The University of Sunderland still has places on its Teacher Training courses starting in September 2015. All our Teacher Training students are entitled to a free North East travel pass, while government bursaries of up to £25,000 are available to support your study.

Once you’ve decided which subject and age group you want to teach, you will need to consider the various different training courses we have on offer. The one you choose will depend on your subject, qualifications, experience, and where you want to train. All our courses include a minimum of 24 weeks training in at least two schools and lead to qualified teacher status.

Can I teach a subject that I don't hold a degree in?

Yes, you can! Our free Subject Knowledge Enhancement (SKE) courses allow those with an A Level, or equivalent, in a relevant subject to progress on to our postgraduate teacher training courses. We offer SKE courses in Science, Computer Science and Mathematics and they are all completely free of charge to applicants from the UK and EU.
